This group was set up in 2013 in Mullingar by Michelle Raleigh in Westmeath Volunteer Centre as a social inclusion project. The aim of the group was to include people from all walks of life to make hand knitted/crocheted items which could then be given back into the community. The group includes volunteers of all ages and abilities. This group lasted for one year then a wonderful volunteer called Phil McCormack from Castlepollard approached us to see if we could set it up in Castlepollard Library. She now coordinates nearly 30 volunteers who meet every second Tuesday in the library in Castlepollard. This project is now supported by Manna charity shops who give donates to the group on a monthly basis. All donations received goes towards the cost of new materials. All items made are then donated to TEAM Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands, premature baby unit in Mullingar General Hospital and also to other vulnerable people in the County.
